Extending walls

Q: How do I extend my walls to meet the underside of a gable end?

A: Select and right click the walls that need to be extended. Move the cursor over the Roof / Floor line option on the drop down and select modify roof line from the fly out. On the command line type in A and press enter to use the auto project option. Select the objects to project the walls to (i.e. the roof) and press enter to confirm selection. The selected walls should now extend to the underside of the gable!

AEC Array Tool

Q: How can I quickly array AEC objects or line work?

A: The AEC array tool allows a user to pattern AEC objects or AutoCAD line work without the need for a dialogue box! Select and right click the object to be arrayed. From the dropdown list move the cursor over AEC Modify tools and select array from the fly out. Select an edge to array from and type P and enter on the command line. Specify a distance to offset the copied objects and drag away from the selected edge (notice the copied objects appearing in dotted). Click in the desired location to finish the command.

Apply materials to solids

Q: How can I apply materials to solids that I have created?

A: The easiest and most reliable way is to turn a 3D solid into a mass element! Right click the 3D solid, move the cursor over Convert To and select Mass Element from the fly out. On the command line choose whether or not to delete existing geometry and press enter to finish the command. Now select and right click the mass element and choose the edit mass element style from the drop down list. Select the materials tab in the dialogue box and select a material from the drop down in the material definition column.
